Delete your Wejoo account
This page explains how to delete your account in Wejoo, the app published by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] [STORE DEVELOPER NAME: exactly as shown on Google Play and the App Store], and what happens to your data.
In the app
- Open Wejoo and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Delete my account, then confirm.
You are signed out straight away, and your exchanges in progress are cancelled (see below).
By email, without the app
Send an email to support@wejoo.app with the subject "Delete my account". Include the phone number of your account in international format (for example +971 5X XXX XXXX) and your first name in Wejoo.
To make sure nobody else deletes your account, we confirm the request with you before acting on it [VERIFICATION PROCESS TO DEFINE: e.g. a WhatsApp message to the account's number]. We then process it within [EMAIL DELETION DELAY: e.g. 7 days], exactly as if you had deleted the account in the app.
What happens next

| Immediately | Your account is deactivated and you are signed out. Your profile and your listings are no longer visible to other users, and your listings are removed from the feed. Your exchanges in progress are cancelled, the requests still pending are closed and the dates held for them are returned. The people you were exchanging with no longer see your phone number or the exact pickup point. |
| For 30 days | You can change your mind: sign in again with your number and your account is reactivated. The exchanges cancelled and the requests closed at the time of the deletion are not restored. |
| After 30 days | Your account is de-identified: your phone number is replaced by a random technical value, your first name by "Deleted member", your profile photo and location are removed, and the records of your sign-in code requests are deleted. Your number can then be used to create a new account, which starts from scratch. |
What is deleted and what is kept
Removed or replaced after 30 days: your phone number, your first name, your profile photo, your location, and the records of your sign-in code requests (fingerprint of your number, IP address). Your remaining dates are lost.
[TECH TO CONFIRM: the profile photo is unlinked from the account, but its file is not deleted from storage yet (technical gap 1); implement the deletion before publishing.]
Kept without your name or your number, but still linked to the internal ID of your account:
- the records of past exchanges and the history of dates, for [RETENTION: e.g. 7 years];
- the ratings you wrote, shown as written by "Deleted member";
- reports and moderation decisions, for [RETENTION TO DEFINE];
- the photos and details of your past listings, no longer offered to anyone (people who had saved one as a favourite still see its title and photo, greyed out), for [RETENTION TO DEFINE — TECH: deletion not implemented yet];
- usage statistics, which are linked to your internal account ID and never contained your name or your number, for [RETENTION: PostHog setting].
This data is pseudonymised, not anonymous: nothing derived from your phone number stays attached to it, but it could still be linked back to you in other ways — for example, the people you exchanged with know who they dealt with.
Database backups are overwritten within 14 days, and server logs are deleted after 3 months.
